We hosted our first pre-Oscars brunch on March 24, 2022, where we were able to bring our community and allies together to host a diverse group of filmmakers. This group included actors, producers, and other Latinx creators in the entertainment industry. Latinx advocates and community members also joined us. Together, we embraced, celebrated, and demonstrated our power, culture, and truth. Many of our guests shared that this intimate event felt like “being home.” It felt like familia.

Our guest speaker was Dr. Ana-Christina Ramón, who shared some highlights from the Hollywood Diversity Report 2022. 

Did you know?

• 5.6% of film writers in Hollywood are latinx
• 7.1% of lead actors in film are latinx
• 7.1% of directors are latinx
• Between 53–60% of opening weekend audiences were People of Color!
• Films with more diverse casts outperformed less diverse films.
• Latinx, Asian, and Indigenous actors are still highly underrepresented–especially those of African descent. 
• In 2021, general progress continued to be made in front of the camera in terms of race/ethnic and gender representation. However, women and all People of Color continued to be underrepresented as actors, directors, and writers.
